Remanufactured & New/Old Stock Parts

Fortunately it's not hard to find parts today if you know where to look. One thing to keep in mind is that some Rhodes parts were common to other products within CBS Musical Instruments (Fender guitars & amps, Rogers drums, ARP synths, etc.). So if your piano is missing a knob, a Fender knob will probably work as a replacement. And several businesses in the US are dedicated to remanufacturing hardware for vintage keyboards, with one (Major Key) focusing exclusively on the Rhodes.

Major Key began as a reseller of leftover CBS factory parts (a.k.a. "new/old stock") run by John R. McLaren, son of the president of CBS Musical Instruments. John was Harold's right-hand man after the factory closed in the 80's, sending out replacement parts on demand whenever Rhodes owners needed them. Today most of that stock is long gone, but Major Key took the lead in remanufacturing parts like tines, hammer tips and damper felts that are absolute necessities for maintaining the piano.

  • New Tines & Tuning Springs, Pickup Coils
  • Tonebar Mounting Screws, Springs & Grommets
  • Hammer Tips, Damper Felts, Bridle Straps, Key Pedestal Felts
  • Sustain Pedal & Push Rod for Stage Piano
  • 4- & 5-pin Cables for Suitcase Piano
  • Custom Preamps (MKHC-1, SC-73)

Speakeasy Vintage Music began as a Hammond organ repair business and branched off into other vintage keyboards, at one time being a reseller of Major Key's products. Today Speakeasy has their own line of reproduction parts and custom products.

  • New Damper Modules (single & 12-key combs)
  • New Tines & Tuning Springs, Rewound Pickups (yours or theirs)
  • Hammer Tips, Damper Felts, Bridle Straps, Key Pedestal Felts

  • Legs, Sustain Pedal & Push Rod for Stage Piano
  • 4- & 5-pin Cables for Suitcase Piano, Power Supply for Preamp
  • Custom Preamps (Stage Box, Suitcase Vibrato, Dyno)

Vintage Vibe services the "Big 3" vintage electric pianos (Rhodes, Wurlitzer & Clavinet) and is a great source of parts for any of them.
