Comments:  Ex-Singer of the indie rock band Helium made her solo debut with "Mountains", and surprisingly she progressed musically quite a lot, which is not always guaranteed for a indie-band-member-gone-solo. Others failed, she didn't.

The album is filled with surreal lyrics, often metaphoric and obscure added to her beautiful and often spartanic and atmospheric arrangements and compositions. There's a heavy mideaval and early 16th-17th century influence in her writing both of the music and the lyrics. But of course the indie rock influence is still very present.

Well, there's one track on this album that is only Mary Timony singing and playing the Fender Rhodes: Track 10 - "1542". And the piano even gets mentioned in the lyrics.

But of course there are some other occasions on this album where she plays the FR piano. It's not her main instrument but the presence of it in this recording is undenyingly heavy and fits very well in.
