Comments:  Michael McDonald is a great pop-music Rhodes player and this album is chock full of Rhodesy goodness. Avoid tracks 2 and 10 and you'll be fine. "You're Made That Way" and "You Belong to Me" are excellent examples of McDonald's place in Rhodes playing history. Not flashy, but solid.

Comments:  Thank goodness for Michael McDonald. He single-handedly saved this band from country rock redneck tedium. Their early songs like 'China Grove' and 'Black Water' sound positively decayed to my ears. Lots of people tend to slag this album because it sounds nothing like the Doobies early work. I say what is wrong with a little sophistication? I suppose those people prefer to be stuck in adolescence and listen to the same basic boogie-rock chords over and over again. Anyway, there is plenty of great Rhodes playing from Michael here and the band has finally found a way to get into a groove.
