Comments:  Part two of the John McLaughlin show, only this time Jan Hammer wanted to get in on the act. One night, while Jan would be comping away on his Rhodes in the background would listen to one of John's blistering runs and decided "I want to do that!" so he went and purchased a Minimoog and that began his long affliction with synthesizer-itis, a disease that is commonly shared with the likes of prog-rock gods Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman. The Rhodes is still heard on this album but Jan decided to submerge it under gobs of Moog. Now don't get me wrong about this but i do like to hear synthesizers played but in a more tasteful way. I think Herbie Hancock and Joe Zawinul understood this as they used their synths mostly for color. Chick Corea and Jan Hammer on the other hand were all about the flashy solo and that is why i don't listen to their stuff anymore.
